Honda Sensing Quick Guide and FAQ
When you’re on the road, there’s nothing more important than keeping everyone safe. The Honda Sensing safety suite comes with lots of amazing features and technology, but it also raises a lot of frequently asked questions! This technology suite comes from the study of real-world situations and applications that can help. Here are a few answers to the questions people tend to ask about this advanced safety and driver-assist suite.
What is Honda Sensing?
Honda Sensing is an exclusive intelligent safety suite for Honda vehicles. It’s full of safety and driver-assist technology that amounts to far more than cruise control and a rearview camera. These technologies are thoughtfully designs to take into account the avoidable dangers of the road, and alert you to things you might miss while driving.
What’s included in Honda Sensing?
Honda Sensing is made up of several intelligent safety technology systems. The Forward Collision Warning feature can detect vehicles in front of you, and give you audio and visual alerts if you get too close. If there is an unavoidable accident, Collision Mitigation Braking System can apply the brakes to help reduce the damage. Road Departure Mitigation is there to adjust your steering and braking if you unintentionally go across detected road lines. Some models also include Traffic Sign Recognition, which uses a small camera to notify you of posted speed limits.
What is Honda LaneWatch?
Honda LaneWatch is one of several driver-assist technologies to complement the safety features in the Honda Sensing suite! It uses a camera on the passenger-side mirror to display live video on your Display Audio Touch-Screen, showing you nearly four times more than the average passenger-side mirror. In addition to LaneWatch, many Honda models also include a Blind Spot Information System, which detects adjacent vehicles when your turn signal is on and warns you that the area isn’t clear to change lanes. There’s also a Cross Traffic Monitor, which enhances the safety features of your rearview camera with a series of beeps that warn you if another vehicle is approaching behind you or from the side.
Does Honda Sensing have cruise control?
Yes, it does! Adaptive Cruise Control lets you set not only a travel speed, but also a set following distance from the car in front of you. When you hit traffic or a slowdown on the highway, your Honda will automatically reduce its speed to match. Then, once the road opens up again, Adaptive Cruise Control will bring you back up to your set speed. Honda Sensing also includes Lane Keeping Assist, which can help you keep your vehicle in the center of your lane. If it detects lane drifts that haven’t been indicated, it can help you out with steering.
Is Honda Sensing standard?
On many new models, yes it is! Honda Sensing comes standard or available on almost every Honda model these days, as part of Honda’s initiative for safer roads. You can get the Honda Sensing suite on fifteen new 2018 or 2019 Honda models today! Many of them feature Honda Sensing as standard equipment, including the 2019 Honda Pilot, 2019 Honda Insight, 2018 Honda Accord Sedan, 2019 Honda Civic Sedan and Coupe, and 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid, Electric, and Fuel Cell models.
