Say hello to the all-new 2022 Honda Civic Sedan! The automaker has been sharing teasers of this car since late last year. And now, it has been revealed in full. Honda says this is the most technologically advanced and fun-to-drive Civic Sedan to date. It has a clean and ultra modern exterior, a high-tech and human-centered interior, and the most advanced active and passive safety systems.
Dave Gardner, the executive vice president of National Operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., says: “Civic has been the go-to choice for compact car buyers for almost 50 years and the all-new 11th-generation Honda Civic builds on that leadership with simple and sporty styling inside and out, best-in-class features and class-leading performance.” Here’s everything this new model has to offer:
The Civic Sedan has these exciting new features:
- All-digital speedometer and tachometer
- 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration
- Avail. 9-inch HD touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration
- Avail. 7-inch LCD instrument display
- Avail. Civic-first all-digital 10.2-inch LCD instrument display
- Avail. Civic-first Bose 12-speaker premium sound system
- Avail. Qi-compatible wireless charging
The exterior on the Civic Sedan has all-new simple and clean styling. The bottoms of the windshield pillars have been moved back almost two inches. This elongates the hood and creates a more premium silhouette. It also connects the pillars to the front wheel hub, which emphasizes the wheels and tires.
There’s also a new wider rear track, stronger rear shoulders, wide-set LED taillights, and a gentle arc from the front fender to the taillights. The headlights, daytime running lights, parking lights, and available fog lights are all LED. And, this Honda is available in three new exterior colors: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic gray Pearl, and all-new Civic-exclusive Morning Mist Blue Metallic.
The cabin has an abundance of head, leg, shoulder and hip room for all passengers. Its uncluttered design makes it feel even more spacious for everyone in the car. The top of the instrument panel was also redesigned to minimize windshield reflections and visual distractions. The windshield also has a more panoramic view.
The dash has a metal honeycomb mesh accent that divides the displays and the climate controls. It also conceals the air vents so the dash looks uncluttered. There’s a new premium center console trim that hides fingerprints and smudges. There’s also a front seat design with a new-generation seat frame. It firmly holds you in place at all times.
This Civic has a more powerful and fuel-efficient 1.5-liter turbo engine and an updated continuously variable transmission. It produces 180 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s 6 horsepower and 15 lb.-ft. of torque more than the last generation of the engine. There’s also an available 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. It delivers 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque.
This car also has an updated continuously variable transmission, and an updated suspension and steering tuning for better ride and handling. And, it produces fewer emissions. Sport 2.0-liter and Touring 1.5-liter trims now have a user-selectable Sport mode. Other changes include returned electronic power steering, new low-drag front brake calipers and low-friction wheel bearings, and an all-new and lighter aluminum front subframe. This Honda nets up to 33 MPG in the city and 42 MPG on the highway*.
The new Civic Sedan is built with an enhanced version of Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure. It better protects all passengers if you’re hit from any side of the vehicle. The new front airbags better protect your head in a crash, so you’re less likely to suffer a traumatic head or neck injury.
The Honda Sensing suite comes with a new front wide-view camera. It’s better at identifying pedestrians, bicyclists, other vehicles, road signs and road lines than the previous radar-and-camera system. This sedan also has a new Civic-first rear seat side airbags and new low-speed braking control and traffic jam assist. And, it has new front and rear false-start prevention and improved adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist.
