2019 Honda Insight Debuts at New York International Auto Show
This week, the 2018 New York Auto Show got the first look at the upcoming 2019 Honda Insight! This sleek, sophisticated new hybrid sedan stands out for its exceptional driving refinement, fuel efficiency, and premium features. It’s made to reflect Honda’s investment in expanding their electrified vehicle lineup in America, and the top-notch design and engineering shows off what Honda has to offer in this innovative car.
This is the first glimpse of the all-new, production-ready 2019 Honda Insight model. The new Insight launches later this year, and will be available nationally by early summer. This new Insight is a premium compact sedan, so its MSRP places it between the current Honda Civic and Honda Accord models. Its unique design provides universally appealing styling, as well as refined packages and competitive efficiency. “The Honda Insight shows consumers that the efficiency of a hybrid car doesn’t mean sacrificing style, refinement or performance,” said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., senior vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “The Insight is another symbol of a new era in the evolution of Honda electrified vehicles, where customers can have everything they want with no compromises.” Powered by Honda’s innovative two-motor hybrid system, this new Insight delivers 151 net system horsepower and up to 55 MPG* in the city.
The new Insight also brings enhanced design and packaging to the hybrid lineup. This sleek sedan has a low, wide stance highlighted by Honda’s characteristic “flying wing” grille. It has a bold front fascia with low-profile LED headlights and taillights. The Insight’s profile is sharp and dynamic, with a sweeping coupe-like roofline tying it together. It shares a basic platform with the 10th-generation Honda Civic, and has numerous engineering enhancements to improve ride quality, cabin quietness, and efficiency. These enhancements make the 2019 Honda Insight a premium compact sedan, and it benefits from Honda’s tried-and-true ACE body structure. The Insight’s chassis is new, designed to provide a refined, confident, and composed driving experience.
On the inside, the 2019 Honda Insight features premium cabin appointments and high-quality materials. It’s full of modern technology and amenities, too. The soft-touch instrument panel features real stitching, and the seven-inch TFT color digital driver’s meter gives you all the pertinent information about your drive. Ergonomically-crafted seats keep you comfortable during daily commutes or long road trips. There’s also more room for passenger and driver comfort, with a generous wheelbase and exceptional packaging efficiency. New packaging design allows for a 15.1-cubic foot trunk in the Insight, so you have plenty of room to bring along all your luggage on a trip.
With three available trims, the 2019 Honda Insight offers tons of standard and available features. The base-model Insight LX comes well-equipped from the start, enhancing the Insight’s place as a premium compact sedan. It includes full LED headlights and daytime running lights, as well as 16-inch alloy wheels. The LX model also has heated side mirrors, push-button start, and a folding rear seats. There’s also a six-speaker audio system, including Bluetooth capabilities and Pandora compatibility. Additionally, even 2019 Honda Insight comes with the Honda Sensing safety suite as standard equipment. This advanced technology suite includes Forwards Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assistance, and Road Departure Mitigation. There’s also driver-assist features like Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and the new Traffic Sign Recognition feature.
On the next level, the Insight EX adds Smart Entry, as well as more infotainment and audio features. The EX offers two additional speakers, SiriusXM radio, and an upgrade to the eight-inch Display Audio touchscreen. This upgraded infotainment system includes more smartphone-like features and functionality: it offers easy customization, with app tiles and home-screen shortcuts. For a full-loaded hybrid sedan, there’s the 2019 Honda Insight Touring model. This top-of-the-line model includes standard 17-inch alloy wheels, LED foglights and side-mirror turn signals, and rain-sensing wipers. It also adds a power moonroof, perforated leather seating, and heated front seats with power adjustment. Passengers get more comfort as well, with standard dual-zone automatic climate control, a 10-speaker premium audio system, and mobile hotspot capability. It also provides embedded Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation, as well as Honda HD Digital Traffic and the HomeLink Remote System.
