2018 Honda Accord First Drive Reviews
The all-new 2018 Honda Accord sedan is almost here, and it’s time to get opinions from the experts. According to several first drive reviews from automotive journals and blogs, this new model is better than ever. It offers higher quality, more features, more options, more, space, and more style. It excels in ergonomics, safety, handling, comfort, and so much more. Anyone looking for a well-rounded, outstanding new car should consider a 2018 Honda Accord!
While previous Accord sedans were never uncomfortable, the 2018 Honda Accord has outdone itself. The interior design is simple and clean. It doesn’t feel claustrophobic like some sedans. Instead, everything is simply organized for an open feel, and made of premium materials. The top-end Touring models feature good-looking fake wood trim inside, and every model has a nice, thoughtful feel to the cabin. This interior design is both practical and refined, made for both convenience and long-haul comfort.
The new interior is amazingly driver-oriented, as well. Honda’s upgrades make the 2018 Honda Accord sedan even easier and more convenient as both a daily driver and road-trip car. The deep center console has plenty of storage for the front-seat passengers. Two USB ports let you charge your devices easily, and higher-level trims also include a wireless charging pad. The driver’s instrument cluster and head-up display are both clean and crisp. Even the steering wheel was updated to fit perfectly in the new cabin, with easy-to-reach paddle shifters and buttons. What’s more, the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assist features now comes standard on every 2018 Honda Accord trim.
There’s a new infotainment center, as well. If you were frustrated by the previous touchscreen-only interface, Honda has good news for you. The 2018 Honda Accord now shares the same infotainment center as the new Odyssey, which is simplified and responsive. Now, the Accord has a single screen, two knobs, and even some buttons. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available. The new system is quick to respond and intuitive, and the test drivers report that it’s both easy and aesthetically pleasing.
The 2018 Honda Accord also offers new powertrain options. Honda offers two VTEC Turbo 4-cylinder engines: a 1.5L inline-4 or a 2.0L DOHC inline-4. Both of these engines boast a broad rpm range for peak torque, and exceptional power delivery in any driving condition. The 1.5L turbo is paired with Honda’s CVT transmission, while the new 2.0L turbo is paired with Honda’s new 10-speed automatic transmission. However, if you opt for the Sport trim, you can get the short-throw 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.5L engine makes 192 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, and the 2.0L engine creates 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque: plenty to get you going and maneuver easily on the highway.
